Bengaluru: After the Darshan case, the police department had loudly claimed to have put an end to the “royal treatment” inside jails. But now, another embarrassing incident has taken place at the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
While actor Darshan, who is in jail in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, has approached the court seeking better basic facilities, a notorious rowdy-sheeter has celebrated his birthday in style inside the same jail.
Yes Srinivas alias Gubbachi Seena, who is behind bars in a murder case, celebrated his birthday lavishly inside Parappana Agrahara Jail. Wearing an apple garland, he cut a cake inside his barrack. Not stopping there, his followers recorded videos and photos of the birthday celebration on their mobile phones and posted them on social media — directly from inside the jail!
This clearly proves that VIP treatment continues for prisoners, with the full knowledge (or help) of the jail authorities.
Reports say the birthday party took place with full arrangements the cake and apple garland were supplied inside the jail, and photos and videos were shot and shared. It’s impossible for such arrangements to happen without the involvement of jail staff.
Allegations have surfaced that jail officials took ₹8 lakh in bribes to allow this celebration. Senior jail officers including Chief Superintendent Suresh, Superintendents Magery, Karna, Ashok Bhajantri, Divya, and others are alleged to have received money and extended royal treatment to the rowdy-sheeter.
Earlier, when actor Darshan was in the same jail, photos of him chatting with rowdy-sheeters and smoking cigarettes had gone viral, sparking public outrage. Authorities had claimed to have taken strict action afterward, and even the Supreme Court had criticized the officials.
But now, with yet another such incident surfacing, it’s clear that royal treatment for prisoners has resumed inside Parappana Agrahara Jail while the Home Minister remains silent.
