Shahapur: Emphasizing educational development across the constituency, Sharanabasappa Goud Darshanapura, Minister for Small Scale Industries and District In-charge, stated that efforts are being made to prioritize approval of new classrooms in schools and colleges, renovation of old buildings, and construction of new structures for educational advancement in both urban and rural areas.

Visiting the Government Girls’ College in the city, he noted that under the 2024-25 KKRDB (Panchayat Raj Department) plan, a new four-room building with a toilet facility costing ₹1 crore is under construction. Speaking to reporters, he added that the target is to construct primary, high school, and college buildings together at a single site at a cost of ₹10 crore, which will commence soon.

The minister emphasized that sustainable development is possible only with progress in education, and hence the educational sector is being given priority, including the construction of a model degree college. Several old buildings in urban and rural areas have already been identified, leveled, and are being reconstructed to facilitate better learning opportunities for future students.

He added that quality education and facilities available in cities should also reach rural schools and colleges, so children need not travel from villages to cities for education. Educational development in rural areas is being prioritized to bridge gaps. He further noted that while politics is temporary, development work is permanent, and efforts are being made to implement development projects according to public needs.

Officials, including contractor Siddanna Tanakedar, were present during the visit.
